Have you applied for an exemption to recognise your experience (e.g. international driving experience) to get your
Passenger (P), Vehicle recovery (V), Driving Instructor (I) or Testing Officer (O) Endorsement; or to act as a supervisor for
Learner / Restricted drivers? Then you'll need to do an Advanced Driving Assessment. This is for you if you wish to apply
for a higher class of licence or endorsement, but have held your full class 1 New Zealand driver licence for less than 2
years.
The
assessment
covers
all
aspects
of
driving
including;
scanning
techniques,
hazard
perception,
use
of
mirrors,
the
2
(or
4)
second
rule,
speed,
steering,
slowing,
stopping,
lane
use,
road
positioning,
communication
and
the
understanding
of
road
rules
and
signs.
In
our
experience
we
have
found
that
this
assessment
is
very
difficult
for
students,
and
so
it
is
our
recommendation that you do, at minimum, a 1 hour coaching session before the assessment.
